MacBook Pro running macOS Sequoia 15.6 randomly switches to German keyboard and language

On the upper right corner of the screen, it shows the German keyboard. This means I have to enter my password using that keyboard, which is different than the English one.

Original Title: MacBook Pro M1 (OS Sequoia 15.6) has started restarting with German language although my system language (and the one I use 99% of the time) is English. What can I do?

Can't you click on that icon in the upper right corner and choose an English keyboard instead?
