One-handed opening of the laptop is not an advertised feature, though most can be opened that way.
Some lids are just a little tighter than others, and I think you'll agree that having a lid that is a wee bit tight is better than having one that is too loose. There is no user adjustable component here.
Regardless, if you're unhappy with the laptop and you bought it directly from Apple, then you have a 14 day window for returning it for refund or exchange without question. If you bought from some other retailer, then your return window is dictated by that seller.
Mine from day one required two hands. When I went to my Apple store their display units were the same. No big deal for me.
