Messages badge not alerting texts from "favorite pinned" contacts after updating to 18.6

As the title says, I cannot get any alerts on my home screen for my messages if my phone is unlocked from my pinned contacts. Additionally, if I text a non pinned contact, i'll get one notification, then I miss all the others that come through. I texted my BIL about coming to visit my new niece, and missed several texts due to no alerts coming through. I've reset the phone, checked notifications, and basically every single option suggested online and it just won't work. It started after my phone updated to the newest iOS. It's an iPhone 14 pro.
