It's not always the iOS update's fault!  Many things can cause phone problems.  If you tell people you think it's an iOS update, it might make it harder to fix or find a solution for the real issue.

Remember, the right question often leads to the solution!

Was/Is your device Jailbroken? If that's the situation, please be informed that attributing the issues to iOS updates may not be accurate.

iOS updates aim to enhance user experience, boost security, and fix bugs rather than disrupt core features. The majority of the issues after updates might stem from underlying, unmentioned factors. Updates won't typically alter personal data but may refine settings or features. Backup before major updates for safety. Review Apple's update details and backup advice for a smooth process.

Kindly consider checking your settings and addressing any device issues before attributing the issue to external factors. This could be a pure coincidence that the iOS update affected the iPhone functions.

Before initiating a standard iOS update, it's advisable to create a backup. Have you completed this step? If yes, proceed with the restoration from the backup.

The measure of battery health deterioration/drainage is subjective and can vary depending on individual usage patterns. There is no universal standard to determine whether the battery health deterioration/drainage is normal or abnormal because it heavily relies on how the battery is used and maintained.

When your iPhone sends incoming calls directly to voicemail or is disconnected after a ring, it might be due to various reasons. This can occur if the recipient's phone is powered off, in a low signal area, or if they have enabled the "Do Not Disturb" mode. Additionally, the contact's number may be blocked or marked as spam.

  1. Check your DND status - If you're experiencing issues with notifications or incoming calls, it's important to check your Do Not Disturb (DND) status. On most devices, you can access this setting by going to "Settings" and selecting "Do Not Disturb." Make sure DND is turned off or adjust the settings to allow desired notifications and calls to come through.
  2. Check BedTime status - If you're using the Bedtime feature on your iPhone, you can track your sleep patterns and set a schedule for waking up and going to bed. To check your Bedtime status, open the "Clock" app and tap on the "Bedtime" tab. Ensure that your sleep schedule is accurately configured, allowing your device to provide sleep analysis and reminders accordingly.
  3. Check your Sound Volume - If you're experiencing low or no sound on your iPhone, it's essential to check your sound volume settings. You can adjust the volume by using the physical volume buttons on the side of your device or by going to "Settings" and selecting "Sounds & Haptics." Ensure that the volume is turned up and not muted.
  4. Check your Ringer switch - If you're not receiving any sound notifications for calls or messages, it's important to check the position of your device's ringer switch. Depending on the model of your iPhone, the ringer switch is located on the side or top of the device. Make sure the switch is not set to the silent or muted position.
  5. Check Call Audio Routing - If you're having issues with audio during calls, such as not hearing the caller or distorted sound, you should check the Call Audio Routing settings. On an iPhone, you can access this by going to "Settings," selecting "Accessibility," and then "Audio/Visual." Ensure that the audio routing is set to the desired option, such as Bluetooth, speaker, or automatic.
  6. Check Auto Answer Calls - If your iPhone is automatically answering calls without your input, it's important to disable the Auto Answer Calls feature. Go to "Settings," select "Accessibility," and then "Touch." From there, disable the "Auto Answer Calls" option to regain control over incoming calls.
  7. Check Connection with Bluetooth Audio - If you're having trouble streaming audio from your iPhone to Bluetooth devices, it's crucial to check the Bluetooth connection. Make sure Bluetooth is turned on in the device settings, and try reconnecting your iPhone to the Bluetooth audio device. If the problem persists, you may need to unpair and repair the devices or troubleshoot further using Apple Support resources.
  8. Check whether in Headset Mode - If your iPhone seems stuck in headphone mode despite no headphones being connected, it could be a software issue. You can try solving this by cleaning the headphone jack with compressed air or gently inserting and removing headphones a few times. If the problem persists, you may need to seek assistance from Apple Support for further troubleshooting steps or possible repairs.
  9. On an iPhone, if the issue is isolated to a single contact, consider verifying the following:
    1. Silence Unknown Callers may be enabled, and the individual's phone number is not stored in your Contacts.
    2. The contact’s phone number may be incorrectly formatted or saved with an invalid or missing international dialing prefix.

  1. Manual Settings Change – The most common reason for a volume drop is the user (or someone else handling the device) changing the settings manually.
    1. Settings > Sounds & Haptics allows users to set ringer and alert volumes.
    2. If "Change with Buttons" is enabled, the physical volume buttons can adjust the ringer/alarm volume.
  2. Automation – Shortcuts or automations in the Shortcuts app can also alter the volume at specific times or under certain conditions.
  3. Third-Party Apps – Some third-party apps with notification or sound management capabilities can affect volume settings, though iOS usually prevents them from directly modifying system sound settings without user action.

another issue is phone calls

What Call? On an iPhone, you can make and receive various types of calls. Here are the different types:

  1. These are standard voice calls made over the cellular network. They utilize your carrier's voice network to connect you with other phone numbers. Allow phone calls on your iPad, iPod touch, and Mac
  2. FaceTime Audio allows you to make voice calls over Wi-Fi or cellular data using your internet connection. It provides higher audio quality compared to traditional cellular calls.
  3. FaceTime Video enables you to have video calls with other FaceTime users. It uses the front or rear camera on your iPhone to transmit live video during the call. Use FaceTime with your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support (IN)
  4. VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) calls use internet connectivity to make phone calls. Apps like Skype, WhatsApp, Viber, and Google Hangouts utilize this technology, allowing you to make voice and video calls over the Internet.
  5. Some carriers support Wi-Fi calling, which allows you to make and receive calls over a Wi-Fi network instead of relying solely on cellular coverage. This can be useful in areas with weak cellular reception. Make a call with Wi-Fi Calling - Apple Support (IN)
  6. The App Store offers numerous calling apps that utilize different technologies. These apps can provide additional features and options for making calls, such as international calling, call recording, and more.

It's important to note that the availability of certain call types may depend on your iPhone model, iOS version, and carrier.

If it is a third-party Music App, then the app developer may not have updated their software to ensure compatibility with the iOS version your device is currently running.

If you encounter any challenges with third-party applications, the best course of action is to directly contact the app developer for further assistance. Here's a brief guide on how to do it:

  1. Identify the app developer.
  2. Visit their website or app store listing.
  3. Look for their contact information or support channels.
  4. Clearly describe the issue you are facing.
  5. Provide any necessary information they may need.
  6. Follow their instructions and provide feedback.
  7. Be patient and follow up if needed.

By reaching out to the app developer, you increase your chances of receiving accurate and personalized support for the challenges you're experiencing. To contact an App developer --> How to contact an app developer - Apple Support

I have been updating my devices ever since I bought my first device in 2009. iPhone 3Gs, 4S, 5, 6, SE (1st Gen), 7, 8 and iPhone 12 Pro, iPad Pro, iPhone 13, Macbook Air 2019, MacBook Pro 16"

I never had any issues with any iOS, iPadOS, or macOS updates to date.

I would personally recommend everyone update their devices instead of listening to rumors from people who may not have kept their devices free from any spurious software.

iOS / iPadOS devices cannot be hacked or infected with Virus / Malware / Spyware if it is updated to the latest iOS/iPadOS unless you have intentionally downloaded spurious software or unauthorized apps directly from the internet and installed them on your device or/and have Jailbroken

Apple claims all these updates are to streamline and fix bugs and so on. Where is the benefit when you took all the text tones and moved them to the alarm timer clock app?! I am not the only one, there's a multitude of people with this same complaint ever since the iOS 17 update. And we're told when the update happens we have to go in and 'fix' the issues caused by the updates ... how has that streamlined our experience? The text tone options are terrible and who on earth wants or needs them for their alarms, timers and such, over text tones? I lost all the specific ones for all the peeps in my life to the alarm section. If you could move them there, what can't you just move them back where they're of more service to the entire community? What value was there in this decision and how is it any kind of a 'fix' or streamline?

Thanks for listening

Id say you're very lucky as I have done the same throughout my phones from the 3 to the 16 pro max. It has been a journey since my iPhone 13 Pro Max with issues after updates. The problems show up in apple apps and that's all I'm going to say about that. I believe you're the first one I've seen say you never have a problem and a fact is not a rumour, it's a fact. As mentioned, lucky you. And remember your experience isn't the only experience so it doesn't make everyone else's a rumour...
