Samsung M80D 4K UHD Smart Monitor will not connect to my Macbook Pro via USB-C

I bought this to use on USB-C via the upstream port, but my Mac and it do not recognise each other. Mirroring is useless on this monitor as the resolution crashes, the HDMI works fine, but the built-in webcam then will not run. Would anyone happen to have any ideas? Both have updated software....

LS*******XU model, so only one USB-C port, unlike the older model....... brand new MacBook Pro.....

A thunderbolt 4 cable did the trick - thanks - it seems my Anker USB-C 1.5m cables did not carry video as I thought they did....

that Samsung M80D appears to be a 4K display with 10 bits/color and refresh rate up to 60 Hz

Interfaces include

USB-C and

HDMI 2.0

and also Wi-Fi5 for connecting a soundbar

to use over USB-C, the cables must be certified cables with a SuperSpeed PLUS or USB-20 symbol (or better), and are limited to ONE meter maximum. (Longer cables can cause too much signal loss and cause errors, and the Mac will shut it down.)
