M1 Studio Max just started having ethernet issues at startup

I have had zero issues until now. I am on Sequoia 15.6. I shutdown every night and boot up in the mornings. Been doing this for a few years, no issue. Recently since about a month, when I boot up, I get a self-assigned IP status under ethernet. I use DHCP. It always remains in that status despite renewing the lease, making the ethernet inactive and active. There is nothing on the mac side I can do to get it to get an IP address. The mac is connected to a managed switch. At first I thought perhaps the switch is acting up, but other devices on the switch can get an IP and work fine. What I found that worked initially was to unplug the switch, replug the switch and then the mac would get a IP address. Then it would be stable until the next boot up cycle. Lately, I have to unpower the switch and power it up more and more to get an IP address assigned. It used to be once, now it takes 3-4 cycles. I dont understand why rebooting the switch makes a difference, when rebooting the mac doesnt.

10Gb Ethernet:

"energy efficient" drops power to the 10Gb Ethernet chip to save energy.  It is NOT compatible with Top Speeds, and could cause issues with auto-speed.  In the hardware pane, set Manual, then under Duplex, set: “Full-Duplex, Flow Control” NOT “Full-Duplex, Flow Control, power efficient” to disable power saving and boost top speed.

Upon further testing, I have determined it is only one of the 2 10Gbe ports that is bad. By having 2 10Gbe macs connected, one works, the other doesnt and reversing the macs reverses which one doesnt have ethernet. (eliminated cable issues by replacing cables). Thanks for you help. Time to get another switch. BTW, I have a Sodola purchased on Amazon and they dont even have a support email listed for warranty returns on their web site!

As a temporary thing, can you connect ethernet directly to your Mac (may require an adaptor), bypassing the switch. What happens then?

If you think about this, the switch is implicated. But if other devices are using it ok, I suggest replacing the cable and anything else that is between your Mac and that switch as well. Just to rule that out also.

Thanks for the good suggestion. It turns out I believe the switch is implicated as well. The switch has 2.5Gbe as well as 10Gbe ports. The 2.5Gbe ports work fine as the studio ethernet works when connected to those 2.5Gbe as well as other devices. The intermittency is with the 10Gbe ports. The switch is managed and I no longer can access the switch. In addition, I have another M4 Mini connected to the 10Gbe port and it acts the same way as the Studio. So the switch went/is going bad. Thanks for the suggestions!
