Power Button / Touch ID Not Working on MacBook Pro 16" 2019
Hello, everyone. I have a 16-inch 2019 MacBook Pro with an Intel Core i9 processor. I'm having a problem with the power button.
It started when I couldn't add a new fingerprint to Touch ID—the system kept giving me an error. I thought it was a software glitch. But today, the laptop shut down, and I couldn't turn it back on using the button. I had to open the lid for it to boot up on its own.
I think it's a hardware failure. The laptop hasn't been dropped or exposed to any liquid. It only has about 100 battery cycles.
What should I do? Has anyone else experienced this? Is this covered by the warranty? Thanks.
