Cannot to verify card on Apple Watch

Hi there, I’ve just bought an Apple Watch and want to add my debit card.

I’ve followed the steps and added via the Watch app; then been prompted to verify with my bank. I verify within the banking app(get a success screen) but the watch doesn’t update and still requires a verification.

I have tried restarting both devices, removing and adding the card again etc but it has the same problem.

Is there any chance this is a sync bug or is it purely a problem with my bank? It’s worked before without issue, on an older watch, which is why I’m wondering if it’s a software bug.

My bank ONLY gives me the option of in-app, so I can’t even choose SMS or anything else.
