iCloud synchronized Notes still seem to keep a local copy of the note on the device, iPad or iPhone
I extensively use the Notes app, but it is synchronized to iCloud so that a note written on one device appears on all of my other devices. On the Internet they say that with iCloud synchronization, the note written actually resides in the iCloud and thereby this iCloud feature can save local storage (with presumably no copy of the note on the local device).
The iCloud synchronization works very well. A note written on one device appears on all of my devices. However, it appears that there is additionally a copy of the iCloud synchronized note I write stored on each of my local devices (iPad, iPhone). This shows up in a couple a ways. In "settings" for reviewing my storage use, a good deal of local storage is taken up by the Notes "document and data", which I presume is a local copy of the note.
Also if I temporarily disable WiFi so iCloud is not accessible from the local device, I still can play back the note. This must mean that the note resides also on the local device.
So the question is why should there be a local copy of the note in addition to an iCloud copy when iCloud Notes synchronization is enabled?
