Remind Me in Mail not syncing between iPhone and Macbook

When I choose 'Remind Me' for an email on my iPhone and set the reminder date and time, I only get the reminder on my iPhone. If I go into the Mail app on Mac, there is no reminder there. Likewise if I set a reminder in the Mail app on Mac, it does not sync over to the iPhone

I have attempted this with both my Gmail and iCloud account and Remind Me does not sync for either account between my devices

Not sure how I can resolve this issue
