Apple Watch Battery Health Dropping Quickly

I've only had my Apple Watch Series 10 since March, and in that time the battery health has gone down to 97%. I'm very good at keeping the battery between 80% and 20% on both my watch and iPhone, and my iPhone's battery health is still at 100%. For context, I got both devices at roughly the same time. The actual battery life of both devices with my usage is more than 24 hours, which is what I expect.

I've never had an Apple Watch before this one, so I don't know if the battery health degradation is normal or if there's something wrong with it.

Perfectly normal. And 20%/80% charge is unnecessary in my opinion. Just let Apple’s software do its thing and you’ll be okay. Apple spends millions of dollars and thousands of man hours in getting the most out of the battery. Battery life and performance are holy grails of every mobile device manufacturer. There’s are tons of opinions out there about how to improve battery life, most of which are weird voodoo. I put my Watch on its charger every night and just let it charge to whatever it wants.

FYI Apple will not service any battery, even under warranty, unless battery health is 80% or lower, or their diagnostic test shows a defect.

Unfortunately my experience has made me not trust Apple’s battery management in the slightest. My previous phone was an iPhone XR that I got new. The battery in that degraded so much within two years that it would shut itself down when it got to 75% battery… I paid £800 for my watch and I really don’t want to have to replace for at least four years. But at least it doesn’t seem like my watch in particular has any issues.

Also, from what I experienced with my Apple Watches, the battery health does not degrade linear und mainly depends on the use of the Watch itself and the setup.

All settings that use a lot of battery life, resulting in having to charge the watch more often, will reduce the battery health faster. For example Always On Display, Brightness turned up all the way, using cellular features a lot, daily workouts, etc.

And if you are paying the service fee for the Battery Service, Apple will replace the whole unit, not just the battery.
