Voice Memo app hangs while recording on iPhone 15 Pro Max

I record Choir practice and recently my iPh 15 hangs more frequently. I pwr cycle it to unhang the phone. I have the recent version of the app. Has anyone else encountered this and found a solution? I have > 500GB of storage available, so shortage of disk space is not the cause.
