Messages not working on mac

Hi guys!

My messages haven't been working on my Mac for about a month. I have tried EVERYTHING that i have found online and nothing is working. I am getting really frustrated because I bought this computer last year and it shouldn't be broken already. If anyone has any advice, I would greatly appreciate it. I also have a bunch of messages on my computer, and I am not sure if there is a way to delete the messages on here without deleting them on my phone. Thank you!

When I first tried an (older secondhand, tested good) iPhone to

initially set it up, for use with my 2012 Mac Mini; that's still in use..

Notably: Most the setup has to be done with an iPhone. While

Android or other smartphone users, can set up their phone too;

sometimes those don't exactly work initially on first attempt.

Yet the Mac computers generally don't work to make calls.

Unless already set up so wi-fi calling can be done on back

of an iPhone or other smartphone, with wireless router.
