Black and flickering screen on MacBook Air M1

Recently, a portion of my MacBooks screen has been black and flickering but stopped when turned off for a few minutes. Now, no matter how long I leave it, it won’t go. I don’t know how it happened as there has been no damage to it. Weirdly when the screen is tilted forward, it seems fine. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Sounds like flexgate. Most likely, this is caused by the cable that connects the logic board to your display. The cable is getting stretched and worn when opened normally, but when tilted forward the cable can relax. This problem could also be related to the GPU, to cross it off the list, connect the MacBook to an external monitor. If it works fine there, the cable is to blame. Apple can most likely repair the device no matter of which of the two problems occurred. In the time being, you can use it in clamshell mode — essentially just connecting an external monitor, keyboard and mouse — and keep the device closed until repair. Hope this helps.
