MacBook Pro M3 keyboard marks on screen after closing

If the marks come off when you wipe, then you are seeing natural oils that your skin secretes that get on the keys. Keyboard covers can cause this and should not be used.

This Apple document states there is very little clearance between the keycaps and the display:

Put a piece of paper on the keyboard before you close your Mac.
