Broken Apple TV signup forms and payment pathways on multiple devices in the Netherlands
Dear Apple,
I have had the worst experience trying to sign up for AppleTV in the Netherlands for my TV which has Google TV. Worst. The worst customer experience from a technical perspective. Amazingly bad.
I found multiple user interface bugs across multiple apps.
I have spent over 4 hours so far trying to make their sign up software work on multiple devices using multiple services, and I still cannot make payment.
First, going to link.apple.com from my Samsung Android phone and entering the code on my TLC TV sent me to a create account page. The Continue button on this account page, when clicked did nothing. No error message. Nothing. I tried on the laptop. Same problem. I debugged with Chrome Tools and saw some kind of CORS error.
I chatted with tech support. They routed me to another on-call expert. We had to eventually make an account on account.apple.com from my laptop because the forms would not work on two different smart phones using two different browsers. After all of this, when we tried to sign in on the AppleTV app on my TV with this new account, it said it could not do it because there is no iTunes store account.
I then download both the AppleTV app for Android. It took me to a payment page to make payment, but the webform was broken as well! It's like no one even tested this payment pathway. Indeed, clicking the button had the same non-responsive and non-error code problem... and this was inside the AppleTV app for Android.
The Apple Music for Android app fared even worse, since it could not even make it to the payment page.
Also, the phone call dropped with tech support, and they did not call me back. The email said, choose the options below, but there was no way to get the call reconnected. So I guess the caller decided he didn't want to call and work on this problem which he could not fix.
So now I'm here.
Then before could post this, my session timed out, so I couldn't post this. It told me to relogin and I would be able to post. But when I logged back in, this entire message was cleared. Fortunately, I did not trust what was written... that I would be able to continue with this post. Instead, I saved this message before signing back in. Then I copied this post back in and am now telling you about yet another technical failure. I feel like Apple should pay me for testing their broken software, especially since it is directly on a critical path for receiving payment.
What's the next work-around I should try to sign in for Apple TV compensate for the broken UI forms on the mobile apps?
