why does aople do "bundled billing"?

Why is it okay for Apple to do “bundled billing”? I purchase something on an app with a specific account that I know has money on it but don’t pay attention if it goes through (it didn’t yet but did on the app). Days later I have a subscription charge and the purchase I made try to go through on the same account that I moved money out of thinking the original charge went through. Now having to wait for it to clear whenever they decide to charge me again since they don’t have a pay now option.

We are all Apple users, like yourself, in the community, so no-one here can speak for Apple. We'd like to help, however. Apple itself is unlikely to see your post, or reply to you here, and doesn't always explain why it does what it does..

What if someone buys a 99c song every day for a week ? What if the bank charges transaction fees ?

or

For those with ongoing subscriptions, seems Apple requires a valid payment method is always available.

Best explanation I found comes from Apple Support in the article below.

How apps, content, and subscriptions from Apple are billed - Apple Support

Eg: says:

"Multiple items may be grouped onto one bill : When you buy items or pay for subscriptions, your payment method will be charged at the time of purchase or within a few days."

How to: View your purchase history for the App Store and other Apple media services - Apple Support

Re: "Now having to wait for it to clear whenever they decide to charge me again since they don’t have a pay now option".

Please note article also says:

"If none of your payment methods can be charged, your account shows a negative balance.

You can't buy, download, or update more apps or items until you update your payment method."

More info: If you wish to, you can send feedback to Apple: Product Feedback - Apple

or

There's a Billing and Subscriptions Support website (eg: info. / support / contact options etc.)

My guess is that there may be transaction fees associated with credit card charges – and that by bundling together purchases, Apple doesn't get nickel-and-dimed for quite as many transaction charges.

I've only seen Apple doing this type of bundled stuff with things purchased from the iTunes Store and App Stores. Subscriptions (e.g., to iCloud+ and Apple Music) always seem to come through separately, on their own bills.

If you are running your credit card balance so close to the limit, or your checking account balance so close to the minimum, that the timing of the charges for a few apps and songs can tip things over, it might make sense to run things not quite so close to the edge.
