Ipad 9 is on, but I cannot see anything except in certain sun light. The top of the screen is dark but underneath I can see the the Ipad is on. It is like there is a dark film over the top.
When I catch the right light I have adjusted the brightness, switched to light mode and turned on and off. Any ideas?

As described, if the screen is only readable in very bright ambient lighting conditions, your iPad's screen backlight may have failed.
You would be best advised to visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) where the technicians will be able to test and assess your iPad. Here you will be in the best possible place to explore your available options for repair or replacement.
