IOS upgrade to 18.6 causing wireless CarPlay to fail

Two different Honda vehicles, two different wireless CarPlay devices. Everything worked fine until the IOS 18.6 upgrade this week. Previously, when you started the car with the device plugged in and your iPhone nearby, CarPlay would come up with the map display. Now, with the device plugged into the vehicle and the car started, half the time the device's connection screen stays up and locks. Looking at the phone's Bluetooth settings, the device shows "connected." Unplugged the device and reconnected; no joy. Unplugged and restarted the car; no help their, either. Forgot the device in the iPhone and re-paired; no help.

I tried to hard-wire it, but I think I was using a power USB-C cable. Going to try a know USP-C Data cable when it fails next.

I totally agree that iOS 18.6 broke CarPlay in many ways, some yet to be identified. In my case I used to get pop up message whenever new text has arrived while viewing any screen other than CarPlay. Now - no visual indication. I actually have to look at my iPhone lol or keep driving with the CarPlay screen selected all the time, otherwise I won't see new texts
