I have a macbook pro running Sonoma and when I'm using Safari or TextEdit (I haven't tried other applications) and when I long press a key a popup shows allowing to enter accent characters. How do I disable this popup? I've set ApplePressAndHoldEnabled to false. But still I get the accent popup. And what I want is key repeat. Which is more useful than accents. There are other ways to enter accents...

Hi Edgar, If you set the “Key repeat rate” slider to Off in System Settings > Keyboard, special characters won’t appear when you hold down a key. For more information : Set how quickly a key repeats on Mac - Apple Support.

That should normally do the trick, as long as your key repeat is not set to “off”. If necessary, try repeating the “false” terminal command and restarting the machine.
