Deleted photos from years ago reappearing on iPhone 14 Pro after update

Why are Pictures I deleted years ago are showing up in my photo scroll iphone 14 pro?

Started happening last week. Downloaded update last night. When I download photos on my computer the normal scroll of 700+ pictures shows up. My photos shows 5,989 pictures. I don't want to have to go through them all and re-delete.

I have never seen deleted pictures show back up in Photos. But while perusing my iPhone 16 with Mac's Image Capture, I was surprised to find pictures from my iPhone of 2017 that were still somewhere inside the phone. I think that they were all pictures that I had deleted at the time-- the mystery-find from the bowels of the machine did not include the versions which I had kept. I'm not sure if I found them all-- in my case they don't show up anywhere that I would normally look, so I haven't been concerned.

This might be connected to what you're seeing, but I'm not sure…
