Birthdate showing above Friend’s profile picture in Messages

Suddenly my friend’s birthdate has started to appear above her profile picture in Messages. Then it stops showing it for a few days but then it pops up again! She doesnt have a Facebook account. She texts and uses Instagram. Any clues as to why this is happening??
