MacBook Air M2 has blank screen

The machine appears to turn on, can hear the "chord" sound. Nothing on the screen, blank. Tried turning off and on, tried opening in recovery mode, nothing, nada, just the sound. Noticed too that the trackpad has no "click" response; it seems dead also, but alas with the screen blank ...

Still under one year warranty, no apple care purchased. What to do short of driving hours to a repair shop?
