Cannot access my icloud drive files and folders on my HP laptop

I have the Icloud drive app installed on my HP laptop and store a lot of information in files and folders on the Icloud drive. Suddenly I cannot access the folders or reach the subfolders much less the files. If I click on a folder it just freezes with the pinwheel spinning. Then the spinning just stops. I can move to another folder but its just repeats the spinning process. Is it a synching issue? Should I try to uninstall and reinstall.

Many thanks for any help provided.

In the short term: Apple support's online article (link below) may help:

Where else can you access the data you store in iCloud? - Apple Support

Eg: says:

"You can also access information online at iCloud.com".

To troubleshoot: If we find the cause of the situation, the solution will likely be apparent:

Re: "If I click on a folder it just freezes with the pinwheel spinning".

✽ You may want to check you have enough memory / storage space free, both on the HP Laptop, and in iCloud. (The pinwheel spinning / freezing when folder clicked / suggests the operating system is struggling.)

✽ You could also check your HP Laptop has the newest compatible OS version installed,

(ie: is security up to date with the latest available ?)

✽ You could also check your iCloud for Windows version is up-to-date:

Apple support's article may help: Download iCloud for Windows - Apple Support

Eg: says

recommended (below): (yet above article also lists minimum system requirements feature by feature)
