iPad changing password without doing anything multiple times

I have no clue what is actually happening, my mother claims that twice now her password that she knows is correct and has not changed suddenly stops working, and she is not allowed to use the fingerprint scanner to sign in, anyone go through anything similar?

You are still required to enter the password under these conditions:

  • after you restart your iPhone, iPad, or Mac;
  • when more than 48 hours have passed from the last time you unlocked your device;
  • when there have been more than five unrecognized Touch ID authorization attempts in a row

Whenever any of those conditions are met, you will need to enter the device Passcode. If that is forgot, then it requires the device to be deleted and you have to set it up again. It may have been the case that she chose the Forgot Passcode after trying unsuccessfully too many time and reset the iPad, where the Passcode needs to be added again along with Touch ID.

Mail can display password-related errors when the network wobbles.

Youngsters are notorious for causing issues when older folks allow them onto devices to “play”, too.

The iPad display can be failing, and that can produce missed touches and ghost touches.

There are many potential reasons.

Get some symptoms. Or get a visit, and confirm.

I suspect that some of the local “unsubstantiated problem report” support trips happened because the problem reporter just wanted a visit, too.
