HomePod Setup Stuck on "Personal Content" Screen - Buttons Unresponsive

I'm setting up a brand new HomePod using my iPhone, but I'm completely stuck on the "Personal Content" screen during setup. The screen is asking whether I want to use Siri to access messages, reminders, calls, etc., but neither "Use Personal Content" nor "Don't Use Personal Content" responds when tapped.

I've tried all possible means of recovery online but no option seems to work. No matter what I do, the setup always gets stuck at the same screen with no way to proceed. It seems like a bug.

Please has anyone else experienced this or found a fix beyond the reset? Is this an Apple ID or siri issue?

You can try deleting the Home App from your iPhone and reinstalling the App from the App Store.

There is or was an option during setup to skip the auto iCloud sync and have HomePod speak a code. I’m not sure at which stage of the set up this occurs, might say do manually. Or does skip this step (for personal requests) work?

Did you purchase this HomePod from a store or privately? Is it a refurbished model? Which model of HomePod? Mini, big one 2nd gen or the big much older OG?

You can perform a hard reset to be sure it is the factory settings it comes with:

  1. Unplug HomePod or unplug the power adapter for HomePod mini, wait 10 seconds, then plug HomePod back in.
  2. Wait 10 seconds, then touch and hold your finger to the top of HomePod.
  3. The white spinning light will turn red. Keep your finger down.
  4. Siri will say that your HomePod is about to reset. When you hear three beeps, you can lift your finger.

After you reset HomePod, you can set up HomePod

Otherwise return it as being defective

Thanks for your reply, but I did these..

I reset my WiFi router and Iphone network settings. I also logged out my Apple ID and logged back in but it's stuck on that screen still. None of the suggestions online work for this case. In fact, this is a very rare case I've not really been able to find online. Just wondering if someone else has been able to resolve this!

Thanks everyone. As a follow up, I had to take it to a repair specialist. All they said was that they had to update the HomePod mini. This is because it was probably part of the original stock from about 4 years ago. However, they did not tell me how as that's part of their business model or whatever.. Anyways, it's now connected and working. Thanks for all your help.
