Heart rate discrepancies between Apple Watch's Health app and Peloton app

I am using a Series 9 watch running watch OS 11.6. I regularly connect my watch to my Peloton to use it as a heart rate monitor while exercising on the bike. It works well for that purpose. When I open the Apple Health app afterwards, however, it says that the maximum heart rate during the exercise session was 30-50 bpm lower than it actually was. The number in the Peloton app appears to be the correct one, based on experience using other HRM’s while cycling. How could two apps using the same sensor at the same time record such different results?

Hi @dorn78 -

That is bizarre.

I can think of circumstances where a correction factor might be applied to raw HR data before additional biostatistics are calculated. Is it possible you’re looking at an adjusted data set in Health?

If you’re sure your comparison should be apples:apples, but it’s not, you should def call Apple Support to resolve.

(And, yes, that pun was absolutely intended.)
