I don't understand why my 2023 16" MBP isn't eligible for AppleCare One

I switched several devices I own to AppleCare One.

It showed my MBP 16" but wouldn't let me add it as one of the devices, and instructed me to call support. Support confirmed it was ineligible, and said something about it being in the trade in program?? I didn't understand, but had to terminate the call as I ran out of time and she wasn't changing her mind in any case.

The MBP is from 2023. And it is currently in a prepaid AppleCare+ plan expiring in Nov '26. So I am covered, but it might save me a few bucks (about $5/month if they refund my existing contract vs the $5.99 to add to AppleCare One).

Anyone know a way to get it into the plan??

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 15.5

As noted, I did. They said it was because it was a trade in. I guess I'll have to do it again.

Try again. Some Apple agents are clueless and will be very stubborn. Hopefully you will get a more knowledgeable agent, or one who is better able to clearly explain why a device would not be covered.

I've gone round & round with Apple by using their own documentation against them.....some agents will interpret the documentation incorrectly (some of it can be Apple's own fault for the way in which the documentation is written & presented).

Unfortunately Apple Support is your only option as Apple always has the last word. If another attempt doesn't work out, or they are unable to explain exactly why your device is not eligible, then you can always contact Apple corporate to report the issue & your displeasure.

Failing all this, then you can seek legal council on the options available in your region.
