Mac Mini M2 512gb out of space, but I have 600+gb remaining available in icloud...

I make a lot of videos so I also have a lot of photos and sound/music files.

How do I set this up so I don't run out of space on my mac mini 2, when I have plenty of storage available in the cloud? Thank you.

As iCloud is a sync service, it’s a better idea to move e.g. your photolibrary to an external SSD drive: Move your Photos library to save space on your Mac - Apple Support

So then it seems that there is no reason for me to pay for more icloud backup than my mac mini hard drive can hold. Thanks..
