iMessage spell check not working

I have all the settings for spellcheck enabled, but when I type the wrong word in iMessage, then right click to see the correct options offered, i cannot click the correctly spelled word out of the menu, nothing changes when i click on the correct word. This is only happening in iMessage on my Macbook, other apps on Macbook are working perfectly fine.
