My system photo library showing on all my Macs
I have 3 Macs where I am the system administrator and each of these is linked to my Apple ID (Apple Account). My newest Mac Mini M4-2024 and my Mac Mini INTEL-2018 are both running macOS 15.5 - Sequoia; and my MacBook Pro-2016 is on macOS 12.7.6 Monterey (highest this mac can run).
In the Photos App on each Mac when I open my "main" photolibrary and go to "Settings" the "Use as System Photo Library" is greyed-out meaning that each of the 3 macs has its own "System Photo Library". IS THAT HOW IT SHOULD BE?
For each of the 3 macs I have chosen to have the full-size photos and videos download to each respective Mac -- I like having the photos available in full-size to access them when not connected to the www. (But for my iPhone 16 Pro I have selected "Optimize iPhone Storage" (not "Download and Keep Originals) because I don't wish to fill-up my iPhone with originals…
OK but back to the issue (if it is an issue) with the 3 Macs all having a "System Photo Library" (and all the photos and videos in the System Photo Library are the same on each mac): IS THAT THE WAY IT SHOULD BE? IS EVERYTHING A.O.K. HERE?
Thanks for any comments or links -- Everything seems to be fine - I don't have any duplications and all 3 macs show the same exact photos and videos (which are also the same on my iCloud account when I access it from the Safari browser) – but just seemed a little strange that each Mac has a "System Photo Library" when there is only 1 "Library" in iCloud.
