Etre Check - Can somebody please take a look at this report for me

Computer is running real slow, like I'm just using it to browse the web, and it can't even handle that.

Performance: Below Average

2020 MacBook Air (intel)

if someone could take a look at the report and let me know how I can clear all that used RAM, will be appreciated. I'm a new Apple MacBook user btw

Thanks!

CCleaner is not doing anything good. It's about the most benign (useless) cleaning app out there, but still not worth having. And that goes for any app that claims to speed up, clean or optimize your system. Do not use any of them.

Other than that, the problem is you only have 8 GB of RAM, which is being greatly overtaxed by having at least one more OS running in VMware, besides MS Office. Over 13 GB of data has been swapped out to the SSD in order to try and run everything you have going. That's a lot, and will easily result in the OS stalling on commands.

The RAM in your Mac cannot be upgraded, so you're stuck with 8 GB. Hate to say it, but your only solution is to purchase a much more capable computer so it can run everything you have going. Bare minimum, 16 GB RAM. And personally, I'd go for more.

cheers for taking a look at this Kurt.

I have at least one another OS on here??!

I think an upgrade is due, but still, how can it not handle basic web searching.

Is there anything I can do in the meantime, clear anything out to make it run a little more efficiently?

Thanks

That's the entire purpose of VMware. To run another OS, or multiple OS's in a virtual environment.

It is, of course, entirely possible to have the VMware app running without have an OS running as a virtual machine. That is, VMware is running, but doing nothing.

I use VMware to run Windows 11 ARM on my M4 Pro mini. Are you doing something similar?

As Kurt Lang noted non-Apple "cleaning" products don't help. Get rid of it.

External drives and performance - There are external drives connected that could be affecting performance.

Disconnect them and determine if they are affecting mouse clicks. An external drive that is not working properly will drag down an entire system, whether you are actively using those drives or not.

Time since boot: About 32 days

Although it is not necessary to routinely or periodically reboot a Mac, if things are not working well it's a simple first step toward advancing troubleshooting. In fact if something is amiss I recommend restarting in "Safe Mode" which accomplishes two objectives: Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support. If it is just as unresponsive while in that mode it implicates hardware, which could be those external drives.

That Mac is definitely starved for RAM. Nothing you can do about that other than unburden it from any nonessential software. For example Microsoft may be essential for your requirements, but MSFT has never been known to write efficient code. If not for it and VMWare, 8 GB might be adequate. You should definitely not experience the lag you describe.
