Sharing files between two older Macs

I have a mid-2012 Mac Pro running 10.13.6 High Sierra and a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2016) running 12.7.6 Monterey. In the past I would connect two Macs via Firewire and swap files effortlessly. I have tried Airdrop but learned that is not possible and emailing them to myself is rather combersome. What are my options?
