Chaos following update to 17.7.8 on an iPad 6th generation

I updated to 17.7.8 and now my iPad doesn't 'trust' my router. Knock on is most apps no longer work - either do nothing (just a circle circling) or report that service is not available or that Something went wrong, Try again, No network connection...


Is there a magic trick to make everything work? Or to restore an earlier OS?

What do you mean it "doesn't trust your router"?


If you explain exactly what is happening to the connection, someone may be able to advise.

What do you see in Settings ➜ Wi-Fi? does it show your wi-fi network as active and connected?


Provide any error messages you see when connecting to Wi-Fi.


Also, check that you indeed have a valid Internet connection by opening a simple website like https://google.com

That means there's an issue with the mail server. It may have a problem with its security certificate or something.


What does that have to do with trusting or not trusting your router or even the iPadOS update.


There's issues with specific services.


It's odd 3 services, 2 unrelated to each other, are having issues, but not unheard of.


You can always restart your router and see if that fixes the issue.


Or restart your iPad and connect to Wi-Fi again,. but if other things work, I would assume it's something specific with BBC and btinternet mail specifically.


You can always remove the email account in Settings ➜ Apps ➜ Mail ➜ Accounts ➜ BTinternet and add it again.


For BBC iPlayer and BBC sport, check for updates to the apps, or remove them and install them again.

The message I get is...

Cannot Verify Server Identity

The identity of "mail.btinternet.com" cannot be identified.


Yes, it is showing as active and connected.


I can google, I can access FB and Netflix.


BBC iPlayer gives me - Something went wrong displaying this content. Retry

BBC Sport - No network connection. Please check your network connection and try again. Retry.
