Unable to send email from Mail app, able to send on browser

Affects both iPhone 12 & 16 Pro using the my same iCloud email address when sending from the Mail app. I have another email address non iCloud & I can send from that email from IPhone

mail app on both devices. I’ve deleted that non iCloud email account now but that has made no difference. I’ve tried all the suggested delete Mail app, restart, reinstall restart. What am I missing ?

So, recapitulating;

  • you are using the default mail app
  • you are signed in with your iCloud email address and a third party provider
  • you are signed in on an iPhone 12 Pro as well as an iPhone 16 Pro
  • emails sent in the mail app using the third party account will be sent
  • emails sent in the mail app using the iCloud account get stuck

right?

seems like an issue with your iCloud account or server connection to me, at first glance… I’ll look it up.

edit: the mails don’t end up in the outbox, do they?

OK, thank you so much for the additional information.

So, it will not work if you open settings -> apps -> mail -> mail accounts -> iCloud and turn off “use on this iPhone”, I mean, it shouldn’t as you’ve tested it with multiple devices. So, turn off and back on… also consider checking your iCloud storage…

Important tip: try toggling “undo send” off and back on. (Apps -> Mail -> Sending section, lower end of the page)
