I’m trying to set up my new Mac book air and transfer from my Mac book pro but when trying to migrate and it keeps saying unable to connect. Can anyone help please?

Remember that you need to be running the appropriate version of Migrations Assistant on BOTH computers.

I would suggest migrating from a current Time Nachine or bootable clone backup of the old computer, rather than migrating over Wi-Fi.
USB cables do NOT support networking protocols.
USB cables support Local peripheral connections, ONLY. In some cases, you can connect a USB Networking DEVICE, but that only works because there is substantial additional software that gets loaded automatically.

If Migration Assistant is just not working, or is just not preferred, then try transferring using a USB crossover cable, or an Ethernet crossover cable.
