Bricked 1st Gen HomePod Mini
I wanted to post this to anyone that may find this in the future. I recently upgraded my 1st Gen HomePod mini from 18.4.1 to 18.5 and it completely bricked it and I am not able to reset it from my Mac. I took it into the Apple Store and the tech told me that he has seen a lot of these and the store has been told directly not to do anything when their firmware update bricks the HomePod mini, but he recommended calling apple support. After a call-in I was told that the "senior support team" informed the tier 1 agent that because the firmware bricked the device that means that there must have been something wrong with it to begin with and they are not responsible (?!). Anyway, if any of you have had this problem, I suggest you flood their support team with calls to complain right now. Even if it doesn't lead to anything, maybe it'll cost them more money and that will make me feel good. This company had fantastic customer service at one point...
