Transferring Files from MacBook Model A1342, released 10/20/2009 to a MacBook Model M1, 2020

I have an old MacBook Model A1342, released 10/20/2009 and want to know how to or best way to transfer files (not programs or apps) just documents to my current MacBook Model M1, released 2020.

Can I just use a high quality high scan disc thumb drive?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 14.6

A USB drive of some sort - hard drive, SSD, or flash drive - would probably be easiest.

If you were migrating to a new machine using Migration Assistant, the easiest way would probably be using a current Time Machine or bootable clone backup on a USB drive.

Hi,

USB memory stick may be best and easy way to transfer data, documents from old MacBook to new MacBook.
