Unable to print with finishing options on Konica Bizhub c458

2 months ago, a user on MAC OS 13 had her print driver auto-update and broke the ability to use any advanced functions like folding, stapling or hole punching, among other minor issues. I've reached out to Konica's tech support and tried a various slew of drivers over the course of 3 phone calls and 2 tech visits etc, and we can not figure it out. The OS was last updated in 2024, so it's not that. She is the only AMC user so we have no other devices to A/B

Even if you have macOS 13.7.6 installed, you are at the mercy of Konica, their last driver support for the Bizhub C458 on macOS Ventura, and their support organization. There is nothing that Apple can do about internal Konica product development and it is Konica's responsibility to either state they have deprecated support for macOS Ventura, or provide the correct drivers that enable the features once utilized from previous Konica printer drivers.


Otherwise, your sole Mac user may find themselves needing access to a Windows desktop and C458 print drivers there. That will either be a standalone desktop, or by using Microsoft's replacement for their Remote Desktop (RDP) on Mac, with the current Apple App Store item Microsoft App which opens a Microsoft Windows Desktop on the Mac from a Windows server. It requires macOS 12 or later and is not subscription.

I meant are the Bizhub C458 drivers on macOS 14.* or later providing all of the expected features that you do not have on macOS 13, and if true, the issue would be to upgrade that user from macOS 13 to 14 or later to gain the later Bizhub driver features.


Is Konica still making current drivers for the Bizhub C458. Seems like that is a quite old device.

If you know the driver version that worked, you may be able to download and revert back to that Konica driver. Konica support should be able to help you with that unless it is no longer supported or available.


Does the Bizhub C458 driver for later versions of macOS work as required? If so, you may need to upgrade that sole macOS 13 user to a newer version of macOS to achieve correct Bizhub driver support.

It's most likely simply a driver issue because it stopped working after we removed and re-added the printer due a large scale network cutover and new VLANs. MACs make it difficult to determine which version of previous apps, software, or driver were previously installed because while it does show the installation or update history, it doesn't show detailed version info. If that were the case, it would be easy to just rollback to the previous working driver. The odd thing is, if we add it via Bonjour most of the advanced functions work. With the regular OS driver, nothing works as it should...not even basic 1 page prints.
