It sounds like the parental control settings (also known as Screen Time restrictions) on your iPad may be blocking access to your iCloud settings. This is a common reason why the iCloud button might not appear in the Settings app, or why tapping it doesn’t open anything. If these settings are restricted, you won’t be able to manage your iCloud storage, delete old data, or change backup preferences from the iPad.
If you know the Screen Time passcode, you can adjust the restrictions to allow access to iCloud. To do this, go to Settings > Screen Time, then tap Content & Privacy Restrictions. Next, tap Account Changes and set it to Allow. Also, make sure that iCloud or Apple ID changes are set to Allow as well. Once you’ve done this, go back to the main Settings page, tap your name at the top (your Apple ID), then select iCloud to view and manage your storage.
If you don’t know the Screen Time passcode, you won’t be able to remove those restrictions directly on the iPad. However, you may still be able to manage your iCloud data by logging into iCloud.com from a computer or web browser. Once signed in with your Apple ID, you can access your iCloud Drive, Photos, and other data. While you can delete photos and files to free up space, you won’t be able to delete device backups through iCloud.com. That must be done from an Apple device.
If you have another Apple device signed in with the same Apple ID—like a second iPhone, iPad, or a Mac—you can go to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Manage Storage on that device to manage and delete old backups, app data, or files stored in iCloud Drive.
To free up space in iCloud, consider deleting unnecessary photos or videos if iCloud Photos is enabled. You can also delete large message attachments if Messages are backed up to iCloud. Another way to free up space is by deleting old device backups that are no longer needed.
If you're unable to remove the Screen Time restrictions because you don’t know the passcode, the only official way to recover or reset it is either through the parent’s account if Family Sharing is enabled, or by contacting Apple Support with proof of ownership of the device.
