carplay won’t show messages

So this has been happening for a few months now. My text messages do not show up on my CarPlay. randomly One will get through now and again. I tried calling Apple. Everything was fine on my phone. Everything is up-to-date. I looked to see if there was a software update on my Toyota and it is up-to-date. I tried to forget this device and Set it up again and the phone will not let me it just spins around. I tried turning off and turning on the car and the device numerous times nothing works. There has to be a glitch somewhere in a software somewhere because also my podcasts will go back to the beginning every time I shut off the car and restart it. Is anybody having these issues? I have an iPhone XR , do I just need a new phone? This doesn’t seem likely. I do not know how to fix this and it’s quite frustrating.
