I can't drag and drop files using trackpad on my MacBook Pro

When I try to hold click to a file It opens It in preview mode.

My trackpad setting is like this;

Settings - Trackpad - Click : Medium

Why? How can I fix this?

Go to System Settings (or System Preferences, depending on macOS version):

  • Navigate to Trackpad.
  • Under Point & Click, make sure “Force Click and haptic feedback” is enabled.
  • Under More Gestures, check “App Exposé” and “Mission Control” (sometimes these gestures interfere if disabled).

Also, try this:

  • Go to Accessibility → Pointer Control → Trackpad Options
    • Ensure Drag is enabled. Try “three finger drag”, which is often more reliable for drag-and-drop.
