How can I add photos to an Apple Invites event after the event has passed

I used Apple Invites to create an event. We took a lot of pictures during the event that I wanted to share with invitees via a shared album. The ability to share an album within the invite was available when the invite was being created, but now that the event date has passed the ability to share photo albums is gone. Is this intended behavior? It seems counterintuitive because any photos taken during the event can no longer be shared once the event date has passed.
