iTunes match showing 'Purchased' instead of 'Matched' for uploaded songs

I have subscribed to iTunes Match for several years. In the last 2 months, whenever I add an mp3 to my music library, and it gets matched by iTunes on my MacBook Pro, I run into a problem. In the past, I would remove the download, and redownload it. The song would show up as matched in the "Kind" column.

Now, when I do that same action, it shows up as "Purchased" in the Kind column. So songs that I have uploaded into iTunes are showing up as Purchased media.

How can this get fixed?

I am not subscribed to Apple Music.
