How do I change my colored cursor back to black on Mac mini?

My cursor has taken on my highlight colour. How do I get rid of this and get back to a thin black cursor like the last thirty years?

Thanks for trying but I have spent a couple of hours on the telephone with Apple and tried changing the settings in System Settings. It cannot be fixed in Sequoia.

For what it's worth, your problem has nothing to do with Sequoia.

If you open System Settings > Display > Pointer and click the "Reset Colors" button, it should change to black with a white outline. If it doesn't, there's something wrong with your install.

I have done so at least half a dozen times. As a thirty-year Machead, I really resent even minor changes by Apple that come WITHOUT an option to leave things as is! I would love to meet any clowns (if they even exist) who actually asked for either the Cap Locks screen indicator or a change in cursor behaviour. I think Apple hasn't quite figured out how to leave well-enough alone or IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT!

I guess you have some bigger issue.

I tried above showing to change the blinking insert cursor/highlight color. (your example Pages, Textedit)

Did you try making your change to black (Licorice) then rebooting to see if it sticks if it does not following suit initially.

This! I just updated today because the pinyin input stopped working in the google chrome search bar, so it was against my will. Now the same project is still on hold because I can't even look at the cursor! Now I'm supposed to sacrifice my nice aesthetic pink highlights because of the absolutely incomprehensibly thoughtless decision to make it more obnoxious and thick accent color instead of a slim, functional black. Then, in a classic move, there's no way to address the most glaring inevitable petty pain exists, so I have to yell into the void.

I'll never get over how people have meetings and discussions about these things then we still get tortured with things like this, as if I want to be four hours deep into being software doctor instead of WRITING LIKE I AM SUPPOSED TO BE because I can't even use terminal as a workaround to see my own cursor! I tried the stack exchange method and reset my computer four times atp. So so so annoying.
