How to prevent unauthorized access to messages on a lost Apple Watch?

Today an old apple watch i had lost a few years ago came back online and im worried that it could be used to access my messages. When i tried to take it off my account it didnt work and when i tried to change my apple id password it just kept saying invalid due to an error
