I have a macbook pro 16 with the USA charging plug. I charged it using an outlet available in my hotel room (that allows the USA type plug) in Italy for 3 hours. Now my macbook wont turn on or charge. Need help please.

It will obviously not clear a hardware fault or hardware damage.
Electric power in Italy is 230v, 50Hz. There shouldn't have been any problem caused by plugging a 16" MBP into the hotel's outlet because the MBP has a universal power adapter.
OTOH if it was a USB charging port that the OP plugged directly into it's possible there could have been a problem. But the OP said he/she used a "USA type plug" which would appear to indicate household power, not USB power.

the hotel voltage was 115 and it worked for our cell phones.
we tried holding down power button it just wouldn’t turn on.
we waited a day and plugged it in the correct plug and it worked. Thank God!!

I just wonder Hotel in Italy outlet is lower than 100V or more than 240V. I'm sure you don't have Volt meter, though.
What happens if you press and hold the power button, and then restart the Mac?

The “American Style” (NEMA-15) receptacle installed in Italy gave me some pause.
Not really sure what was actually wired-up “behind it.”
