Macbook pro (USA) not turning on after charging in European outlet

I have a macbook pro 16 with the USA charging plug. I charged it using an outlet available in my hotel room (that allows the USA type plug) in Italy for 3 hours. Now my macbook wont turn on or charge. Need help please.

Correct. The long press of the power button is a way to try to force a power-off. Más info:

That can clear low-level issues that might prevent charging, among other potential causes.

It will obviously not clear a hardware fault or hardware damage.

Electric power in Italy is 230v, 50Hz. There shouldn't have been any problem caused by plugging a 16" MBP into the hotel's outlet because the MBP has a universal power adapter.

OTOH if it was a USB charging port that the OP plugged directly into it's possible there could have been a problem. But the OP said he/she used a "USA type plug" which would appear to indicate household power, not USB power.
