iphone 12 gets very hot when charging on an ANKER charging station, but not when I use the original plug-in charger. Also overheats on a jigsaw puzzle app which I've quit using. The battery "health" says it's still at 92% capacity and charge lasts as it always has. Can this problem be fixed so I can use the charger again?

That's an ANKER issue. I got rid of my ANKER charger about 6 months ago because the replacement device that ANKER sent surprisingly did not fix the issue. The phone actually got hotter faster with the replacement device.
But, I also have a number of other ANKER cables and adapters that have had no problems at all.
Ask ANKER to send you a replacement device. Maybe you will have better luck than I did.
Regarding the jigsaw puzzle app......you will need to speak to the support folks at the app.
Anker is calling back their products due to overheating.
