Cannot receive/hear incoming apple carplay whats app messages in new vehicle(2025)
My phone- an iphone 13 Pro Max has always worked well with car play. I receive d whats app messages as screen bubble, touched them and then voice told me message and I could press and dictate reply.
In my new Range Rover Evoque when whatspp comes in and I touch screen it asks " do you want to reply". I can't as don't know messgae.
Spoke to sales person in JLR and showed him- had a lot of waffle from their tech person rthat " apple have switched this off in new cars because of legal issues in US" This has to be nonsense! Asked for senior contact in local JLR- No reposne and its driving me nuts! I have to stop to read a message . only other optuion would be breaking law and reading whatsapp on my lap!
I complained last week to central JLR customer service- very helpful- said would talk to tech people and get back-- no response of course.
Can someone help? Is it me?
Is it apple car play?
Do I need to up grade phone?
Do I need to badger car Land Rover for software change?
I'm not that technical but Im not happy.I was not told this would be an issue and car very expensive.Family member also recently had an issue (same one) but volvo solved it.Frankly would have kept old Velar if Id known! It's a big problem I need to sol,ve before term begins again.
