Apple Cash (Green Dot) users beware you are not protected from scams or fraud

Just want to let the comment know that using Apple Pay (Apple Cash) to send money to someone you might be purchasing something from if you have an issue with that transaction such as the person scammed you etc you will not get your money back. Green Dot basically protects the criminals and has no answers for us as the end user nor cares about your case. They will hang up the phone on you.

Such person to personal payments are the same as cash. There is no fraud protection. Apple Cash should be used with your friends and family; people that you know.

Using Apple Cash by sending money to a person through Messages is a cash transaction between 2 parties just like using any other Cash app or handing someone on the street money. You should NEVER be sending cash to someone you do not know. Apple makes that very clear here in their Support Article for sending cash.

Apple Cash person-to-person payments are like any other private transaction between two people, so only send and receive money with people you know.

The same is true for Venmo when sending cash to someone else. You see this quite frequently on Facebook MarketPlace when the seller requests Venmo for payment, and then the buyer is unable to get their money back and neither Venmo or Facebook will help.

Venmo works both ways. They offer both personal accounts and business account. I use one for commercial transactions for my business, including online sales. The other is a personal account and exactly like you describe. PayPal (owner of Venmo) works the same way. Cash App (owned by Square/Block) has only personal accounts, but offers limited protection because it includes an account with Sutton Bank.
